This is a project that aims to connect the past, present, and future generations of the Yogad Tribe. As the world becomes more and more borderless, it is easy to lose a sense of self, culture, and language. For immigrant children, the stakes are high. We will have to live and learn to speak in a tongue that is not our own. To not know about our language, is to not know a part of ourselves.
This is where we reclaim our Yogad identity. This is where we run back home.
Yogad Kan can mean one of two things: First, as a clan marker meaning “I am Yogad” and second, to signal linguistic identity meaning “I am someone who knows Yogad [as a language]” – emphasizing the inseparability of Yogad as both an identity and a language.
